Why become a mentor
Becoming a mentor with Drive Forward Foundation is your opportunity to make a lasting difference in the life of a care-experienced young person.
Many young people leaving care have the drive and potential to succeed but face unique challenges — fewer professional networks, limited confidence, and uncertainty about where to begin. Your guidance can bridge that gap.
By sharing your time, experience, and encouragement, you’ll help a young person build confidence, develop employability skills, and take real steps forward in their career journey.
And mentoring isn’t one-sided — you’ll gain just as much in return. Mentors tell us they leave the experience with stronger leadership, communication, and coaching skills, a deeper understanding of social impact, and a renewed sense of purpose.
Mentoring the Drive Forward way
Our mentoring programme is designed to be flexible, structured, and fully supported.
- Commitment: Around 4 hours a month for 6 months min
- Format: Online via our mentoring platform PushFar, or in-person if preferred
- Support: Trauma-informed mentor training, DBS check, and ongoing supervision from Drive Forward
Once trained, you’ll be matched with a mentee whose goals and interests align with your background. Together, you’ll agree on focus areas — such as confidence-building, job applications, or understanding workplace culture — and work towards achievable goals at your own pace.
