Empowering young people through connection and career growth.

Why it matters

Young people leaving care often have talent, ambition, and drive — but face unique challenges: fewer networks, limited support, and lower confidence.

Mentoring helps to:

  • Build self-belief and motivation
  • Strengthen employability and workplace skills
  • Expand professional networks
  • Support smoother transitions into sustainable employment

Every mentoring relationship is a step towards leveling the playing field for care-experienced young people.

Make a difference

What is mentoring?

Mentoring connects care-experienced young people with professionals who want to make a difference. Through one-to-one guidance, our young people can explore careers, develop confidence, and build the skills and networks that open doors to lasting employment.

It’s not about fixing someone — it’s about walking alongside them as they discover what’s possible.

Become a mentor

Mentoring the Drive Forward way

Our mentoring programme is designed to be flexible, accessible, and meaningful for both mentors and mentees.

  • Duration: 6 months minimum
  • Commitment: Around 4 hours a month
  • Format: Online via Pushfar, or in-person if preferred
  • Support: Full training, DBS checks, and ongoing supervision provided by Drive Forward

We currently partner with organisations like John Lewis Partnership, Marina Marina, and Lambeth Council, who share our belief in the potential of care-experienced young people.
